Maridati bay
Take to road from Palekastro to Vai, move right at the street
sign "The Coloured Valley - Maridati", take the two
kilometres down the dusty road and go slowly. At the end of the
road you will be astonished. Towards the east behind the Tamarisk
trees a sand and gravel beach offers clear waters. Even during
the high season at the end of July to at the end of of August
there a just a few tourists. Nude bathers meet at the most southern
end.

Wild Meltemi - no problem
Even if the Meltemi rages wildly
and impetuously at other beaches the
sea here remains relatively
quiet.
An ideal place in order to stretch under the Tamarisk
trees on stormy days. Divers and snorklers go to the northern
end of the bay "around the corner". The wealth at
sea animals
of all kinds is impressing.

Not only to relax...
.... but also "hungry visitors" come here. Manolis
Taverna, app. 150 meters away from the beach, is considered
as one of the best fish Taverna's in the region. Manoli and
his girl friend offer an enormous variety of fresh seafood.
In addition there is always first-class music particularly from
the 70's and 60's or, if Manoli is in the right mood wild Crete
Kontilies, Mantinades, Rizitika.
